Ultra-light apps your computer barely notices. Completely free.
Tools that tune, monitor and look after your computer, and only do what you need. Fewer things running unseen can make an older computer feel quicker, without new hardware.
Paid applications installed on the client's own server. The data does not leave the company. The first two: WS.Merchant for shops and WS.Foresight for forecasting.

Nine small tools that do only what you need. They barely touch the processor, do not track you and cost nothing. Mac versions come first, then Windows and Linux.

Measured on the same Mac, a MacBook Pro with M1 Pro. Stats is a popular free system monitor for macOS. The Stats figure is a single reading; a one-hour measurement of both apps is in preparation. On Windows, WS.Sensor will be measured against HWiNFO, HWMonitor and MSI Afterburner on the same PC, and the results will be published here.
Nine tools, one set of rules
Minimal CPU use
Idle means idle: in our tests WS.Scribe uses 0% CPU while waiting and WS.Sensor 0% with the display asleep.
No tracking
The free tools have no analytics and no tracking, and GRUENCY collects nothing about you or how you use them. WS.Parley and WS.Support are services that connect you with WS.COMPUTER: calls are recorded and reports are sent only with your consent, and you see what is sent.
Only what you need
Each tool does one job. No feature lists to learn and no settings to dig through.
Free, no registration
Download, open, use. No account, no registration and no payment, at home or at work.
One icon, nothing hidden
On a Mac each desktop app is only a small icon in the menu bar; WS.Shield sits in the browser toolbar and WS.Parley in a browser tab. There are no setup windows. The only thing an app does unseen is the daily update check.
Automatic updates
Once a day each app checks for a new version and updates itself, with no windows or prompts. It sends only its version number.
Missing something? Tell us
Every menu has Suggest a change and Report a problem. Tell us what to add or fix, and we will add it or fix it.
Links, not adverts
A small strip at the bottom of each menu shows GRUENCY and WS.COMPUTER with links to both websites. Nothing else.
What each app does
WS.Sensor 0.28.0
Everything your computer is doing, at a glance
FreemacOS · Windows · Linux
In the blink of an eye you see the load and temperature of the processor and graphics, free memory, disk and network. The same menu sets fan speed, from Auto (macOS) to Max or a value of your own.
CPU, RAM, SSD and GPU use in per cent, CPU and GPU temperature, and download and upload speed
Fan speed as one value, with both fans kept in sync
Fan control on a Mac in one row of the menu: Auto (macOS), Optimized (3500 rpm), Cool (4500 rpm) or a custom value
Fan control needs one-time administrator approval. Nothing runs in the background
With an external display the readout appears only there. On the built-in display the icon shows one chosen value and the rest is in the menu
A MacBook Air version without fan control, as the Air has no fan
Two switches per sensor in the menu, Measure and In the bar; sensors that are off are not read at all
Planned for Windows and Linux: CPU load and temperature, the load and temperature of each graphics card, RAM, disks and network, and control of CPU and graphics card fans
Turns red only at a critical level: processor or graphics temperature just before throttling, critical memory pressure, or a disk more than 90% full. Otherwise nothing changes

What's new · 0.28.0
Versions 0.x are pre-release. 1.0.0 will be the first public release.
0.28.0
Added
Windows version (Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit): CPU temperature and load in the taskbar, and the same for each graphics card; a window with all sensors.
0.15.1
Fixed
CPU and GPU pairs: a clear gap between load and temperature, smaller than the gap between readings. Labels sit slightly further from the digits.
0.15.0
Changed
New menu bar layout: the number on top with a small grey label underneath; CPU and GPU show load and temperature side by side over one shared label. The bar is narrower than with labels beside the values.
0.13.0
Changed
Fan settings: Auto (macOS), Optimized (3500 rpm), Cool (now 4500 rpm, was 4000) and “…” for a custom value. Max is gone: a value above the maximum in “…” runs the fans at their maximum.
0.12.1
Changed
WS.Sensor now handles only sensors and fans: it sends no notifications and does not control other apps.
0.10.0
Changed
Fan control in one row of the menu, with modes Auto (macOS), Optimized (3500 rpm, the WS setting), Cool (4000 rpm), Max and “…” for a custom value. Hover shows the speed, a click switches at once.
Fan speed shown in rpm.
0.9.2
Changed
RAM and SSD: the “%” sign in the same type and size as the number, consistent with CPU and GPU.
0.9.1
Changed
CPU and GPU back on two levels, percentage above temperature, now in the same bold type with their units: “30%” above “52°C”. Only the CPU and GPU labels are smaller. The one-line layout from 0.9.0 is withdrawn.
0.9.0
Changed
With an external display, CPU and GPU sit on one line, “CPU 30% 55°C”: both numbers in large type, units smaller. On the MacBook alone (little room beside the notch) they stay on two levels, percentage above temperature. It switches by itself when a display is connected or disconnected.
0.8.1
Changed
Network transfer in the bar in the same large type as the percentages and fan speed; the K and M units are smaller and the arrows keep their colours.
0.8.0
Added
Red only at a critical level, otherwise nothing changes: CPU and GPU temperature from a threshold chosen for the chip (M1: 95 °C, M2–M4: 100 °C), shortly before throttling; RAM when macOS reports critical memory pressure, not merely a high percentage in use; SSD from 90% full or under 10 GB free. No notifications, sounds or animations.
Changed
New name: WS.Sensor (formerly WS.Gauge).
0.7.1
Changed
A new app icon and menu bar icon, matching the icons on this page.
0.7.0
Changed
Simpler menu: one row per sensor (CPU and GPU with load and temperature together, RAM, SSD, fans, network) with two switches beside it, Measure and In the bar. Sensors that are off are not read at all. No submenus; a switch does not close the menu and the values update live.
0.6.0
Added
Choose what the bar shows: each reading (CPU load, CPU temperature, RAM, SSD, GPU load, GPU temperature, fans, network) can be shown in the bar, only in the menu or switched off; readings that are off are not measured at all. The bar fits its width to the readings you choose.
Fixed
RAM in GB as macOS counts it.
The logo in the menu footer is visible.
0.5.1
Added
A Suggest a change item in the menu, next to Report a problem.
0.5.0
Added
The open menu shows the full readings: CPU and GPU with temperature, RAM in GB, free disk space and network transfer.
A menu footer with the WS.COMPUTER and GRUENCY logos and links, and Report a problem.
0.4.0
Added
CPU and GPU temperature (the hottest sensor of the chip) on a second line under the percentage, in °C or °F according to the system settings.
25 European languages, including English, Polish, German, French, Spanish and Ukrainian
Speech is recognised on the computer and never leaves it

WS.Candela 0.4.3
Your MacBook's brightness keys, now on the external monitor too
FreemacOS · Windows · Linux
Written for the Mac, above all the MacBook Pro and MacBook. macOS lets the brightness keys dim only the built-in display; WS.Candela sends them on to the monitor through its cable. The keys on a Magic Keyboard work too.
Cursor mode: the keys change the display the cursor is on
Sync mode: one key changes the built-in display and the external monitor together
Separate control of each display
Keeps control when you move between displays
Control runs over DDC/CI through the cable, so it depends on the monitor and the port. Tested with a MacBook Pro 14 (M1 Pro) and a BenQ SW321C

0.3.0
Added
A menu footer: version, the WS.COMPUTER and GRUENCY logos and links, and Report a problem.
0.2.0
Added
Its own menu bar icon, version number in the menu, start at login.
Fixed
The brightness keys work on macOS 27 and with a Magic Keyboard.
The application restarts itself after a crash.
0.1.0
Added
First version: the Mac's brightness keys control the external monitor over DDC/CI, with Cursor and Sync modes.
WS.Boost 0.4.0
Gives your computer a boost: stops what runs in the background for no reason
Free · In preparationmacOS · Windows · Linux
Shows each program that opens at login or runs in the background, one at a time, and asks whether you use it. Only the programs you keep remain.
One decision per item: keep or remove
Free up memory for a local AI model: say how many GB you need, and it suggests which open apps to quit; nothing closes without your consent
Asks about apps unused for 10 minutes and says how much memory quitting them frees; nothing closes without your click
Suggestions based on use: a program you rarely open is offered for removal, and one you use often can stay without starting at login, so it opens only when needed
A removed item goes together with its agents, background services, helpers and leftover files, not only its switch
Everything removed goes to the Bin, so it can be undone
On Windows it will also cover leftovers from uninstalled programs, unneeded startup entries and services whose application is gone
What's new · 0.4.0
Versions 0.x are pre-release. 1.0.0 will be the first public release.
0.4.0
Added
When an app has not been used for 10 minutes, WS.Boost asks in a notification whether to quit it and says how much memory that frees. It never asks about browsers, mail, messengers, Finder or WS apps, and asks again only after the app has been used again. It checks once a minute and can be switched off in the menu.
0.3.1
Changed
Free up memory: apps you may be working in right now (Claude, ChatGPT, terminals, Xcode) are never ticked in advance. They stay in the list and you can tick them yourself.
0.3.0
Added
Free up memory: say how many GB you need, for example for a local AI model, and WS.Boost suggests which open apps to quit. Nothing closes without your consent, and apps can ask to save first.
Changed
New name WS.Boost (formerly WS.Prune) and a new icon.
0.2.0
Added
The plan can be applied and undone: a preview shows every step first, system items need one administrator approval with the exact steps shown, and removed files go to the Bin.
0.1.0
Added
First version: goes through everything that starts with the Mac or runs in the background, one item at a time: keep, keep without autostart, or remove.
WS.Parley
Client calls in the browser, with speech translated both ways
Free · In preparationBrowser
For sales calls, agreeing a workstation's specification and contracts. The client has nothing to install.

Watches temperatures, fans, disk and memory, with the same readings as WS.Sensor
Once a week it sends WS.COMPUTER a report on the state of the machine. The customer sees every report
Small, safe problems it fixes itself and logs what it did. Serious ones it explains and asks before fixing. Critical or unknown ones go to WS.COMPUTER service
The Ask for help button connects the customer with a technician, who sees the screen only with the customer's consent
Consent can be withdrawn at any time. With the customer's consent a call can be recorded and turned into service notes
Planned to come installed on every WS.COMPUTER workstation
WS.Remote
